Quintessential items that every woman needs for optimal fall wardrobe options.
Welcome to my absolute favorite season of the year. The season of layering, boots, and warm/earthy/neutral colors. I love the fall because I have so much fun pairing different prints, layering various knits, scarves, and wearing my most practical boots. We want to keep it simple and don't want you out here spending a ton of money on a fall wardrobe, so we will discuss a few pieces you should have. Every woman should have a few pieces part of a fall capsule wardrobe to ensure they can curate as many outfits possible out of a few pieces. Below, I will give you a few items to consider adding to your closet for the fall season.
Overcoat - Elevate a simple look with an overcoat. I'm working on incorporating more color into my fall wardrobe, but for now, I've linked a pic of me in a neutral, cream-colored overcoat from HM. An overcoat is a layering piece and all of them are not meant strictly for warmth (hence why you layer). However, they still bring an element of "I'm always ready" to any outfit.
Trench Coat - I don't know about you guys, but I am part of the trench coat mafia. Trench coats are elegant and amazing for the fall season. They're also a great layering piece and are perfect in any environment (weather permitting).
Faux Leather Jacket - Looking to give your outfit a little edge? Look no further than a faux leather jacket (Yes...I said faux leather...I don't want any PETA people coming after me.. lol).
Blazer (neutral color) - Blazers are an excellent option to elevate your look. I have more blazers than I can count and wear them with everything from my denim, skirts, or shorts.
Oxford shirt - I can never have enough crisp, white oxford shirts. These shirts can elevate any look by giving you an automatic chic, pulled-together look when paired with or without a blazer. Throw on your favorite denim, trousers, or skirts, then top your look off with pretty much any option for shoes such as pumps, combat boots, or sneakers. You can now step out feeling confident.
Chunky Knit - These are my go-to where most times I won't even need a light jacket. In the carousel post, I'm wearing my favorite tan chunky knit from Nasty Gal. I paired it with my mom jeans from American Eagle, and white, patent leather ankle boots from Nasty Gal for a complete, casual look.
Slip Skirt - Slip skirts are an effortless way to jazz up any outfits. The versatility for these skirts is endless and they're super comfy. In the picture above, it was fairly warm. However, for a brisk, fall day, try pairing a solid colored slip skirt with a turtleneck bodysuit and/or sweater, knee-high or OTK boots, and a calf-length coat for added warmth!
Sweatsuit - Sweatsuits are always something I need in my fall wardrobe. These are perfect for those days that I just want extreme comfort, but still want to look put together. Death to the days where women's sweatsuits were always baggy and had to be boring colors. Cashmere and cotton sweatsuits (in my opinion) are the best quality and provide the most comfort. This season, I am loving chocolate and tans. I'll be back with an updated picture in a tan sweatsuit that has arrived.
Trousers - I prefer to have a pair of creased trousers that can be worn to the office or to dinner. I can dress them up with heeled boots or pumps or dress them down with flats, mules, or sneakers. There are endless options with a good pair of trousers and you'll always look chic!
I also have a pair of faux leather trousers that I wear during the fall and winter seasons which I believe provides you with an elevated look when paired with an oxford shirt or blazer.
Good Denim - A good pair of denim will hold a special place in your wardrobe all year long. While there are many types of denim from mom jeans, to skinny jeans, slim-straight, wide-leg, and more. Pictured above, I am wearing a pair of my favorite, high-waisted, skinny jeans from Go Jane. Denim that fits me like a glove is always a must for an effortless look. You can always pair this kind of denim with your favorite bodysuit and a blazer or a turtleneck for a chic fall look.
Boots - From ankle boots in the pic above to leather knee-high boots, to over the knee boots below - these are all must-have staples for your fall wardrobe. As with most items that I purchase, all 3 of these can be dressed up and down which gives me the versatility I desire for my wardrobe.
Flats/Mules - Pics soon to come
Wide Brim Hat - I LOVE a good, super-wide brim, especially when it has a wide brim. These hats can elevate any look if you purchase a quality hat.
